The actor was asked point-blank by Good Morning Britain if he'd be taking up the mantle of Hollywood's most iconic super-spy after current 007 Daniel Craig throws in the towel. Elba's response was simple, yet final:
"No," he said with a playful laugh.
He did try to warn us on Aug. 12, when he tweeted, "Don’t believe the HYPE..."
This news comes on the heels of the 25th James Bond film losing director Danny Boyle over creative differences with producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Craig is set to star in that film.
Unless Eon Productions finds a replacement director soon, the movie's U.K. release (Oct. 25, 2019) and U.S. release (Nov. 8, 2019) could be in dire jeopardy, as production is slated to start in December at Pinewood Studios.
