As we’ve known since 2015's New York Comic Con, Paul Reubens has been cast as Penguin’s dad in the Fox series Gotham. Now, thanks to executive producer Danny Cannon, we have our first look at Cobblepot Père.

Two looks, actually. In the first image, below, we see the two male Cobblepots standing together under an umbrella. The elder Mr. Cobblepot, Tucker, is dressed in what I can only call “classic mafioso,” with tidy, styled hair and a ring big enough to pay bail with. Oswald, who usually looks coiffed and dressed to pull double duty as an undertaker, here is comparatively mussed.

In the second image, Tucker stands in a nightdress, holding a candle. It’s an old-fashioned look that suits Gotham’s uncertain time period.

We currently don’t know much about Tucker. But from the looks of him, it seems that Oswald takes after his father, rather than his scattered yet loving mother, Gertrude Kapelput.

Unfortunately, Tabitha Galavan killed Penguin’s mom, played by the fabulous Carol Kane, in the episode “Mommy’s Little Monster.” This means that unless we see it in flashbacks, we will never have the pleasure of watching Reubens and Kane—both skilled comedians—act together.

Reubens is the best man for the job, and not just because of a physical resemblance to his on-screen son, played by Robin Lord Taylor: He had played the father of Oswald Cobblepot before, in the 1992 movie Batman Returns.
