In honor of yesterday’s Alien Day, 20th Century Fox has unleashed our first official look at director Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant, the movie that serves both as a Prometheus sequel and an Alien prequel.
As you can see below, the image doesn’t reveal anything too spoilery but it gives us our first look at the crew of the Covenant’s badge, which is emblazoned (appropriately enough) with angels from the Ark of the Covenant (guys, I don’t know about you, but this is giving me some major Raiders of the Lost Ark feels!) and the logo of a true staple of the Alien movies, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Check it out!
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Set to open on August 4, 2017, Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Alex England. Don't look for Prometheus star Noomi Rapace, though. It's been confirmed her character of Elizabeth Shaw would not be returning for the movie.
