Finally! AMC has released our first official look at one of Preacher’s most memorable-looking (and I'm putting this mildly) characters, Arseface. The character reveal was made at the end of the show’s WonderCon panel Friday evening.
Played by Ian Colletti (Rake, Jimmy), Eugene Root, aka Arseface, was introduced in the pages of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s DC/Vertigo comic book series Preacher, which is being adapted for the small screen by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The upcoming TV series stars Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter) in the title role of Jesse Custer, Ruth Nega (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as his former girlfriend Tulip O’Hare, and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) as Irish vampire Cassidy.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Preacher comics and wondering about Arseface’s singular look, it’s because Eugene, who's really a sweety-pie and has remained this way despite it all, was left both horribly disfigured and with a severe speech impediment in the wake of a failed suicide attempt. Take a look:
Preacher also stars Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon, Jackie Earle Hayley as Odin Quincannon, W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson in the roles of Betsy and Donny Schenck. The 10-episode series will premiere May 22 on AMC.
What do you think of Areseface's TV look?
