Let's be extremely clear: I am not a fan of the 2010 alien invasion film Skyline. It was a derivative bore with inane dialogue and an implausible plot.
That said, I am (oddly) hopeful for the sequel, Beyond Skyline, which at the moment is still searching for a distribution partner. Its story revolves around Frank Grillo's tough-as-nails detective character, who fights to free his son from a terrifying alien warship.
Of course, my enthusiasm for the follow-up is taking into account the fact that it can't possible be any worse than the first movie.
If the new poster is any indication, there might be a glimmer of light in this indie sci-fi film's future. Have a look-see.
Co-written and directed by Liam O’Donnell (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem), Beyond Skyline also stars Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian (both from The Raid), Bojana Novakovic (Drag Me to Hell, Devil) and Jonny Weston (Under the Bed, Project Almanac).
