Director Paul Feig's much-discussed and much-anticipated female-led reboot of sci-fi comedy classic Ghostbusters is finally in production after what felt like years of rumors, and we're getting our first glimpses of the film's design. A couple of weeks ago, we glimpsed stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon on the set, and now Feig is giving us something arguably even more exciting: a first look at the new Ghostbusters gear.
Late yesterday, Feig posted the first image of the brand-new Ghostbusters uniforms to his Twitter page.
Like the originals, they're jumpsuits, they're pretty much the same color, and they sport the same classic logo. The only real difference is the orange safety stripes across the middle. Of course, a Ghostbuster uniform isn't really complete without a proton pack, and this morning Feig showed us what those will look like, too.
It looks a bit smaller and a bit more battered than the originals, but also includes a couple of nifty digital number displays. All in all, everything looks very similar to the original film, which almost makes you wonder if Feig and company are sticking a little too close to the source. Still, we'll wait to see actual footage of this stuff in action before we really judge.
Ghostbusters hits theaters July 22, 2016.
