We're waiting very impatiently for the season-five premiere of Game of Thrones, not just because we want as much of the epic fantasy series as we can possibly get, but because the show is beginning to veer into exciting new territory that A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin hasn't covered in his novels. We saw some glimpses of this in season four, and since season five is adapting the fifth (and so far last) novel, A Dance with Dragons, and beyond, even readers who know the books by heart could be in for some surprises.
On Friday, HBO released a new poster for the season that seems to confirm said surprises. It features Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) standing at the bow of a ship, looking out at the mist-shrouded Drogon, largest and scariest of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons. As A Song of Ice and Fire fans know, this a big deal because, in book five, Tyrion actually encounters ... well, let's just leave that in spoiler territory for now, shall we? We don't know yet how close season five will adhere to A Dance with Dragons, but if this poster is any indication, all bets could be off.
