Image of the Day: Ukrainian Lenin statue reworked into Darth Vader

Here's an awesome way to give a Communist Party statue of Lenin in Odessa, Ukraine a modern age makeover -- Star Wars-style!   Artist Alexander Milov took this grim monument to Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin and transformed it into the infamous Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.

“I wanted to make a symbol of American pop culture which appears to be more durable than the Soviet ideal,” Milov told the BBC.

The project was part of the government's recent focus on decommunization laws, requiring the removal of all Communist symbols in Ukraine.  Vader's ominous breathing mask now covers Lenin's stern face and his long coat becomes the flowing cape.  And to give it a digital era twist, Vader's black helmet serves as a WiFi hotspot!

Have a look at this artistic transformation and tell us, comrades, if you like the geeky results.
