Pacific Rim: Uprising isn't set to stomp into theaters until March 23, 2018 but the marketing material is slowly trickling down to fevered fans.
Until a kaiju-crushing, robot-rumbling new trailer is dropped (maybe during NYCC), let's satiate ourselves with this freshly printed poster featuring John Boyega's Jake Pentecost standing proudly before his titanic Gipsy Avenger Mark VI jaeger.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Daredevil), this monster mashing sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 Pacific Rim, stars Boyega as the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost from the original film. The likable Star Wars: The Force Awakens hero will fight the good fight with Rinko Kikuchi, reprising her role as Mako Mori, alongside Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Karl Urban, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny.
Here's the studio synopsis:
In Pacific Rim Uprising…
“It’s been ten years since The Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes.”
