Nickelodeon movies can often be hit-or-miss. On the one hand you've got The Rugrats Movie, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. On the other, you've got Yours, Mine & Ours, Imagine That, and The Last Airbender. Nevertheless, the feature films from the Paramount-owned network are harmless, family-friendly fare that, if done right, can be enjoyable for the entire family, regardless of age.
The latest offering from Nick is Wonder Park, an animated movie that tells the story of an amusement park powered by the imagination of a young girl named June. While renovating the place, she'll get some help from some talking animals, like a narcoleptic bear and a gung-ho monkey.
You can watch the delightfully hopeful trailer, set to an ethereal cover of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World," below. You might just get some strange and subtle flashbacks to 1994's A Troll in Central Park and Craig McCracken's Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
The movie boasts an all-star cast of Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, and Mila Kunis. The screenplay for Wonder Park was co-written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, who penned Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Wonder Park will open its gates in theaters March 15, just one week after the release of Disney's Captain Marvel. Let the fierce box-office competition begin!
