The time has come to improve you body, mind, and soul with a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Perfect. Set in a future where humans can improve themselves via genetic engineering, a young man with a violent past travels to a remote clinic to better himself.
Directed by Eddie Alcazar (writer of HBO's Tapia and a producer on last year's controversial Kuso), the movie stars Garrett Wareing, Courtney Eaton, Tao Okamoto, Maurice Compte, Martin Sensmeier, Sarah McDaniel, Chris Santos, Leonardo Nam, Regan 'Busdriver' Farquhar, and Abbie Cornish. Generally speaking, Cornish (Sucker Punch, Limitless) is the only major star in the project, which was produced by Steven Soderbergh. Experimental musical artist Flying Lotus wrote the music.
Watch the eerie trailer below, which gives off serious vibes of Blade Runner, Ex Machina, and Tron.
The official (and intriguing) synopsis reads as follows:
A boy in a cold and stark modern house, in a vaguely science fictional world, is seduced by advertisements of perfection to install implantable characteristics directly into his body. The implants heal his dark, twisted visions, but come with a corporeal cost. He persists on applying them, hoping to reach perfection, but ultimately he discovers that purity of mind is not exactly as he's imagined.
Check out the unsettling poster below that brings to mind those of Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon.
Perfect will make its world debut on Mar. 11 at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Two more screenings will be held on the 13th and 15th.
