Infinity War's 'ambitious crossover' becomes a hilarious, unlikely meme on Twitter

There's no doubt that Avengers: Infinity War will be the biggest blockbuster of 2018. Indeed, it might even be the biggest blockbuster of the 21st century. (Just check out those record-breaking advance ticket sales.) After 10 years and 18 movies, the entire population of the Marvel Cinematic Universe bands together to try and stop the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) from collecting all six Infinity Stones, which will grant him omnipotence over the universe.

You've seen the trailers: Stark meets Quill, Parker meets Strange, Thor meets all the Guardians of the Galaxy. On and on it will go in this epic crossover film that was carefully built, primed, and executed one installment at a time. Fortune favors the bold, but it also rewards the patient, and that describes both Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and filmgoing audiences the world over.

However, the assertion that the Russo Brothers-directed movie is "the most ambitious crossover event in history" has started to make its way online. While it sounds like something Feige or Marvel might say, there's no actual confirmation of where the phrase originated. That being said, it's taken on a life of its own and is now being openly ribbed online as people tweet photos of other, well-known crossovers from film and television history. You could even argue that Steven Spielberg's upcoming movie Ready Player One could win out on the most pop culture icons crammed into one feature film.

Some of the tweets are admittedly silly, but others are enough to challenge Infinity War for the crown of "Most Epic Crossover in Human History." From Gilligan's Island, to Star Wars, to Power Rangers, take a look at some of the most creative posts below...
