If you're one of the strange few living outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War, then look away now. A newly released Marvel comic, Infinity Wars Prime, is here, and it's potentially offering fans some hope as to what they can anticipate happening in Avengers 4.

For those of you still mourning the apparent loss of half the MCU population – including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America, to name but a few – we have some good news. In this new book (via The Hollywood Reporter), it turns out that the epic villain Thanos isn't as undefeatable as he seemed in the movie -- in fact, in this story, he appears to have been killed off once and for all.

Of course, this story takes place outside of the MCU and within Marvel’s comic book continuity, but it still presents an exciting idea about how Thanos could be ended in Avengers 4. With some pretty awesome illustrations by Mike Deodato, and written by Gerry Duggan, we see Thanos offed by a character called Requiem, by way of beheading and stabbing him through the chest.

"Urrck!" is the sound Thanos makes as a sword is smashed through him, while Requiem gets straight to the point by telling him, "I'm just here to kill you," as he then takes a fatal swing to his neck, severing his head. Requiem is said to be a major focus in this new series, and it will be interesting to find more about his mysterious origin.

You may recall in the movie how Thanos (Josh Brolin) told Thor (Chris Hemsworth) "You should have aimed for the head" when they were in a battle, and we can't help but think there could be some connection there with this story.

The visuals from the epic death scene in the comic are certainly some that we would love to see repeated on the big screen, especially if Thor or any of the others somehow get a chance of having another swing at him.

We've already predicted who will live and die in Avengers 4, which you can read about here. But one thing we're now hoping is that somehow any of the surviving Avengers will find a copy of this new comic lying around, and get some much-needed inspiration when it comes to facing Thanos.

Infinity Wars Prime (2018) #1 is available digitally here as well as in comic book stores. Avengers 4 is scheduled for release next May.
