Boba Fett is a classic Star Wars villain, a bounty hunter whose backpack got jets. He’s also a snazzy dresser in his Mandalorian armor. But the armor we saw in The Empire Strikes Back is only one of several variations of Fett’s look. This infographic from Halloween Costumes.com, “The Evolution of Boba Fett,” lays out Fett’s subtly changing style.
The average geek knows that Boba Fett first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. The geekier-than-average geek knows he first appeared in the now-infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. The deepest of deep geeks, however, know that the Mandalorian first appeared in a parade in San Anselmo, Calif., in September 1978. And that’s how I know this infographic wins: It references the Fett parade costume.
We last saw Fett in Return of the Jedi, where he was about to be slowly digested over a thousand years in the Sarlacc Pit. However, in the no-longer-canon Dark Empire comic books, Fett escaped and lived to hunt bounty another day. Will we be seeing him in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi? Signs say it could happen. If so, we would love to see how his armor has evolved.
