The Royal Family goes Hawaiian in new plot details for Marvel's Inhumans series

Marvel's The Inhumans is arriving via Earthly airwaves this fall, and comic fans are poised for an intimate introduction to the Attilan family, starring Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Mike Moh as Triton, and Sonya Balmores as Auran.

This eight-episode mini-series was produced in a team-up among Marvel, ABC Television, and IMAX, and up until now we were told that the basic plot would revolve around the royal family first created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965 and its "never-before-told story of an isolated race of superhumans with unique and diverse powers."

ABC has just released a new, more detailed synopsis of the show that points prominently toward the troubled character Maximus, the power-hungry brother of King Black Bolt, having led an insurrection against his family, resulting in the royal clan's refugee status.

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

Attilan, the ancestral home and headquarters of the Inhumans, has bounced around a bit in comic book history, first being established on an isolated island in the Atlantic, then the Himalayan mountains and, more currently, the Blue Area of the Moon.

The latest storyline announcement doesn't say specifically where they have fled from, but I'd love to see a spectacular lunar palace instead of some boring oceanic island establishment. But that's just me.

What do you think of these new details, and are you anticipating the Terrigen-altered superhumans' arrival?

The two-episode pilot of The Inhumans will screen in IMAX theaters on September 1, with the show continuing over at ABC on September 26.
