One of the wildest scenes in Iron Man 3 revolved around that epic attack on Tony Stark’s mansion, and now we have a peek at how all of Marvel’s FX wizardry was done.

From all the 3D modeling to the extensive layering, the clip breaks down just how much insane detail went into creating that action set piece. That scene helped set the tone for the style of action to come later in the film, and is still one of the coolest concepts ever put into a Marvel film. Though it sometimes gets glossed over for the flying monkeys mid-air rescue, this scene is still one of the best.

This breakdown does a great job of peeling back the layers of how they built those zip-bang flying suit pieces amid all the debris and flipping angles as the mansion crashed into the ocean. That scene is also part of what led the film to rack up multiple nominations in everything from the Academy Awards to the Visual Effects Society Awards.
