Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation writer Drew Pearce is set to make his big-screen directing debut with a new sci-fi thriller titled Hotel Artemis. And who better to star in the movie than a two-time Oscar winner? Now, that's how you start your directing career!
According to a report over at Coming Soon, Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs, The Accused) will star in Hotel Artemis as “The Nurse.” The site reports that the "near-future" movie written by Pearce himself is “set in its own distinctive crime universe.” I have to admit that I'm really intrigued by the concept, even though there’s no detailed info as to the movie plot or Foster’s “Nurse” character besides what’s just been revealed (which isn’t much). However, I expect we should know a bit more soon.
The movie hails from The Ink Factory, which will finance and produce the movie alongside Marc Platt Productions. Pearce will also executive-produce via his production company Point of No Return. In an official statement, The Ink Factory’s Stephen Cornwell’s said:
“Casting Jodie Foster is a real coup. She is an extraordinary talent and will bring something very special to the film. We are delighted to welcome her to this exciting production. Drew’s vision is unique and we can’t wait to see it brought to life by a stellar cast.”
Drew Pearce has a bit of a busy schedule in front of him. He’s been tapped to write the untitled Ghostbusters movie project as well as Sherlock Holmes 3, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Oh, and he’ll also be working on Marvel’s hotly anticipated Runaways series on Hulu.
About landing Foster for his first gig as a movie director, Pearce said, “Jodie Foster is an icon, pure and simple. She’s an extraordinary artist, and to be working with one of the all-time greats on my first feature as a director is an absolute honor.”
What do you think of Jodie Foster starring in Drew Pearce's directorial debut with his near-future thriller Hotel Artemis?
