After playing a key role in Marvel Comics’ universe-reshaping Secret Wars event, the Fantastic Four have largely been sidelined over the past year or so — but is Marvel’s First Family getting back together? Or at least a few of them?

Marvel Comics Editor in Chief Axel Alonso dropped an intriguing teaser image on Twitter featuring Ben Grimm (aka The Thing) wearing his old-school Fantastic Four uniform — except instead of a “4" there’s a “2” on his belt. Alonso dropped the note that “it takes 2” with the image. So what could it mean?

Let’s break it down: In the wake of Secret Wars, Reed, Sue and their kids set about the process of re-creating the multiverse, a task that has apparently kept them busy for a while now. In the meantime, Johnny Storm has been rolling with the Inhumans, while Ben Grimm is working as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (most recently tasked with tracking down the Infamous Iron Man, Victor Von Doom). So, with Alonso teasing “it takes 2,” could he mean Ben and Johnny? Could the duo potentially team up to find Reed and Sue?

We already know Marvel is looking to go back to its roots with the Legacy event, though the Fantastic Four have not really been a presence in any marketing or lead-up materials. Of course, Marvel could be playing it close to the vest to bring the Fantastic Four back into the fold as part of Legacy’s fallout. Or not.

What do you think? Are the Fantastic Four finally coming back to the Marvel universe?
