Hey, Zack Snyder is cramming just about everybody else into Batman vs. Superman — so why not the Dark Knight’s most iconic villain?
After Batman vs. Superman cinematographer Larry Fong shared a photo from the set of the Man of Steel sequel showing a playing card lodged in a wall, the Internet went nuts thinking it was a subtle hint that the Joker could make a cameo (or at least be teased) in the upcoming DC film.
Is it possible? Sure, largely because Snyder is setting out to establish a brand-new unified universe separate from Christopher Nolan’s seminal trilogy, meaning the Joker is up for grabs to reinvent (R.I.P. Heath Ledger). Heck, he’s Bats’ biggest villain, so it’s really only a matter of time until the Joker gets a reboot.
But is that what Fong was actually trying to convey? It’s hard to say. You’d think as someone working on a Batman movie, he’d have to pick up on the obvious connection of showing a picture of a playing card, since it’s the psycho’s signature calling card. But it could just be an innocent shot to show the “card trick” stuck in a wall, as he implied in a follow-up tweet.
@ErikDavis Finally, someone who can see the obvious. Thank you.— Larry Fong (@larryfong) May 20, 2014
What do you think? Will Snyder toss in a nod to the Joker, or is this all lust idle speculation?
