Think there's a serious appetite for the new big-screen version of Stephen King's horror classic IT? If you responded with a resounding YES, you'd be correct.

The new red-ballooned IT trailer that dropped on Wednesday nearly popped the internet and recorded a record-breaking 197 million global views in 24 hours. That's a helluva lot of eyeballs! The previous record was set by Universal's The Fate of the Furious back in December of 2016, with 139 million. So IT has clearly clobbered that old mark without even mustering a sweat, and even swiftly struck down the poor Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer with all its hate by almost 80 million!

According to Deadline:

"Within hours after its release, the It trailer became a viral sensation, trending across Facebook and Twitter and rising to the top of the Reddit Homepage with 30K-plus “up” votes in four hours. The video quickly rose to the No. 1 position on YouTube’s trending videos and remained there throughout the day."

There seems to be an extreme level of cross-generational awareness for this '80s horror project, not only among Stephen King fans, but even those who are only vaguely in tune with the inner rumblings in Hollywood. For many, IT was their first introduction to the twisted literary world of King, and the $12 million TV mini-series that aired on ABC in 1990 over a two-night period was watched by an estimated 30 million households!

While these figures for the insane allure of the IT trailer bodes well for New Line and Warner Bros' highly-anticipated fright project, it remains to be seen if it can keep this level of attraction up for six more months.

What do you think? Are you slavering for this R-rated remake?

Let's watch the terrifying trailer one more time just to make sure!

Director Andy Muscietti's IT creeps into theaters on September 8.
