A lengthy new trailer for TNT’s new sci-fi series The Last Ship has been released, showing off a ton of action and world-building for the last survivors still hanging on.

The series is executive-produced by Michael Bay (Transformers) and stars Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy), Rhona Mitra (Strike Back) and Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck). Not a bad cast list, and like him or not, Bay knows how to make things go boom very well. So this one will have some cachet when it arrives.

Storywise, the series will follow the crew of Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James, who are among the last few people left alive after a global catastrophe nearly decimates the world's population. What comes next? That’s the question the series is asking.

The series is based on William Brinkley's popular novel of the same name, though it seems to use the book's actual plot more as a jumping-off point than anything. The project also shows shades of ABC’s short-lived series Last Resort.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think:

The series is set to premiere Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TNT. This new trailer will run in movie theaters this weekend in an effort to build some buzz.
