There had been speculation that the current season of The Walking Dead would introduce fan-favorite comic character Tyreese at some point, and now it seems the rumors are true. Meet the man who will bring the beloved survivor to the small screen.

Actor Chad Coleman (The Wire) will play Tyreese, a former NFL player who eventually becomes Rick's second-in-command in the comics. He also developed into a love interest for Michonne and Carol in the original canon, where he plays a large part in the series.

Coleman seems like a good fit for the dark tale of survival, having cut his teeth on another dark cable series, The Wire.

Though creator Robert Kirkman has been known to take the TV series in different directions than the comic, Tyreese was a major player, so he could be sticking around in this version (for a while, at least).

A lot of his story in the comic comes to a head during the gang's big confrontation with Woodbury, so it's not surprising to see the writers bringing him into the fold at this point. But we're definitely curious to see where they take the character this time around.

What do you think? Will Coleman make a good Tyreese?
