For many fans, the biggest panels at San Diego Comic-Con are about the new superhero movies studios like Warner Bros., Marvel, and Fox are rolling out in the years to come, but if there's any TV force that can compete with the big-screen reveals, it's The Walking Dead. The AMC zombie series is the most unstoppable thing on cable, and today the cast and crew rolled into San Diego for a panel teasing the show's sixth season, which is likely to break more ratings records and keep the loyal fans hungry.
It's become a bit of a Comic-Con tradition that every Walking Dead panel is accompanied by a rather long trailer that gives fans around the world a look at the upcoming season, and this year is no different. Today, AMC unveiled a Comic-Con trailer that's more than four minutes long, and it gives us lots of insight into the major conflicts that will unfold in Season 6. Because this is The Walking Dead, and enemies are everywhere, there's obviously more than one struggle at work here, but the biggest one seems to be that people in Alexandria, including the just-arrived Morgan, are beginning to lose faith in Rick and his no-mercy attitude about survival in the zombie world.
Check out the trailer below:
This is far from a full episode of the show, but it certainly feels like there's a dramatic arc here. We see Rick's new approach to leading in Alexandria, and then watch as pretty much everyone -- even Daryl -- turns on him and his way of doing things, while also witnessing the heartbreaking schism that seems be developing between Rick and Morgan. Of course, we don't yet know how this will play out, but the trailer does let us know that the people of the community have far more to worry about than Rick, including literally hundreds of Walkers.
The Walking Dead returns with an extended premiere episode October 11 on AMC.
