During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden Wednesday, the Lord of the Rings actor was asked to show the exact physical movements he used for some of his most notable motion-capture roles, like Gollum and King Kong. When Corden asked him to do Gollum, Serkis spit out his water and launched into a perfect Sméagol split-personality monologue.
"Please don't make me do Gollum, I don't want to do it," he said in one voice, countering in a harsher tone with "Yes, you do, precious! You do!" The first voice returns with "No, I don't. Please, I can't bear to bring him out again." And finally, the meaner voice retorts, "What do you mean, 'Bring him out again?' It's how you made your living for f***'s sakes!"

Serkis also showed off the slack-jawed performance he used for Baloo the bear in his directorial debut, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. The mainly motion-capture movie is another adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book and, like Jon Favreau's upcoming version for Disney, boasts an amazing cast. There's Christian Bale (Bagheera), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Naomie Harris (Nisha), Peter Mullan (Akela), Eddie Marsan (Vihaan), Tom Hollander (Tabaqui), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Hathi), and Jack Reynor (Brother Wolf).
Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle drops on Netflix Dec. 7.
