Director James Gunn certainly went all in with the post-credits scenes department by featuring not two, not three, but FIVE glorious post-credits scenes in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

SPOILERS BELOW! Proceed at your own peril:

Those scenes included: Kraglin (Sean Gunn) practicing with Yondu’s (Michael Rooker) whistle-controlled arrow; Stakar (Sylvester Stallone), aka Starhawk, reuniting the original Guardians team (Martinex, Charlie-27, Aleta Ogord, Mainframe and Krugarr); Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) cooking up Adam Warlock; Teen Groot; and Stan “The Man” Lee hanging out with the Watchers. (My personal fave was the Adam Warlock reveal, although that Star-Lord/Teen Groot scene was hilarious.)

But did you know there was supposed to be a sixth one? Yep. You read that right. In a new report over at USA Today, James Gunn revealed why he ultimately decided to leave out a scene that would have featured Gef the Ravager (Steve Agee). The scene that would have also featured Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) was filmed, but in the end was left on the cutting-room floor. Here’s the excerpt:

The scene Gunn left out involved Gef the Ravager, a quirky supporting character played by Steve Agee, who was hit by Yondu’s deadly arrow during a major fight. The director filmed a scene where heroes Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) are conversing and suddenly hear screaming. “We realize that Gef has been on the ship the entire time mortally wounded,” Gunn says. “It ended up being a little confusing.”

There you have it. Sure. It’s a bit disappointing that the scene had to be left out of the film’s final cut, of course, but hopefully it will be included in the future DVD/Blu-ray release of the Marvel movie. Would you have liked to see Gef’s scene on the big screen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?
