Scott Summers may have died in Last Stand, but could he still be back in Day of Future Past

Hey! Remember when Brett Ratner killed off Cyclops in X-Men: The Last Stand? And remember how much we all hated that even more than we hate Scott Summers?

Well, X-Men: Days of Future Past is a time-travel story, isn't it? So it stands to reason that Cy might return! The only problem is, we haven't heard Bryan SInger mention anything about ol' red eyes or the man behind the visor, James Marsden.

But, when asked if he would be in Days of Future Past, Marsden didn't have good news.

No, no X-Men, unfortunately. But who knows? If this next film really works, Bryan has said he wants to fix a few things, so hopefully that's one of them. It was great, to have a movie like that, the first two or three X-Men, and the studios in Hollywood work really hard to find a formula that's successful, and you want to keep that intact, so...

Granted, filming is still ongoing at the moment, and Marsden could be lying to throw fans off the scent. We're not holding out much hope, though.

Which is not to say that Cyclops couldn't or shouldn't ever return. If Days does undo the events of Last Stand, there are plenty of Scott Summers stories to be told. Heck, he's probably at his most interesting in the current crop of X-books right now, Uncanny X-Men and All New X-Men. So there's plenty of good stuff to mine.

But will they? Our fingers are crossed -- how about yours?
