It's been nine months since IT -- director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of the first part of Stephen King's beloved horror classic -- stormed the box office and became a phenomenon. Ever since, we've been waiting impatiently for IT: Chapter Two.
While King's novel jumps back and forth in time between the Losers' Club as children and their reunion as adults in Derry, Maine, Muschietti decided to divide the story into two films set in two time periods. So, while the young cast from the first film are expected to return for flashbacks, IT: Chapter Two will focus on the adult Losers' Club, a dream cast that we've seen slowly assembling over the last few months. Now, it's no longer just a dream. IT: Chapter Two is finally ready to float.
We know this because James McAvoy, who was cast to play the adult version of Losers' Club leader Bill Denbrough, shared a photo celebrating the start of production on his Instagram account Tuesday, complete with a little Derry pun.
So, the reunion of the Losers' Club and Pennywise the Dancing Clown (played once again by Bill Skarsgard) has commenced. Get ready for more photos from the set to land in the coming weeks, cheese-based and otherwise.
In addition to McAvoy, IT: Chapter Two will also star Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader as Richie Tozier, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, and Andy Bean as Stanley Uris. It's set to be released in theaters -- no doubt to more box office dominance -- on September 6, 2019.
