Minor spoilers ahead for Justice League, as well as how the film might relate to Aquaman when it's released new year!

When you consider the need to get everyone together and united to fight the Big Bad, It's understandable that we didn't get a great deal of backstory on Aquaman or any of the newly introduced characters in Justice League. After all, there are solo films planned for both Flash and Aquaman, so there's still plenty of time to tell their stories.

But one part of Justice League left some Aquaman fans scratching their heads a bit --the air bubble necessary to facilitate a conversation between Aquaman and Mera. After all, they're both able to breathe underwater, so why would they need air to speak?

Apparently, that trick caught Aquaman director James Wan's attention and he was not a fan.

Of course, we don't know how he plans to have underwater conversations, but air bubbles are definitely out. Start making your suggestions in the office pool now.

Aquaman opens December 21, 2018.
