We're almost halfway through the first season of DC Universe's Titans and it's time a new Robin was added into the mix. That would be Jason Todd (Curran Walters of Girl Meets World), who, while making his debut in this week's episode, will have the entire seventh episode named after him.
You can check out Jason Todd in some new high-res production stills released by Warner Bros. TV and DC Universe. He's got a similar look to the existing Robin, Dick Grayson, played by Brenton Thwaites. However, he also looks even moodier and cockier, if such a thing is even possible. Not hard to believe, though, as the comic book character was considered to be much more reckless and foolhardy in his post-Crisis on Infinite Earths iteration.
Based on the photos below, it seems that Grayson isn't too miffed about another Robin on the scene. In fact, the two seem quite cordial by shaking hands with one another.
Jason Todd was first introduced in the early 1980s by Gerry Conway and Don Newton. Batman took the young street rat under his wing, hoping to reform the boy's wayward inclinations like thievery and deception.
Over the years, he's been murdered by the Joker (A Death in the Family) and taken on the persona of the Red Hood. The images put out by DC Universe hint that Todd's look on Titans may have been influenced by his Red Robin costume in the comics.
Episode 5 of Titans, "Together," premieres on DC Universe this Friday, Nov. 9. Episode 7, "Jason Todd," arrives on Nov. 23. However, this week's episode is most important right now as it will see the formation of The Titans after the Nuclear Family tracks them down. Robin, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy are tired of running and will take a stand once and for all.
