OK, OK, OK. We’ve all had some version of this franchise-crossing debate. Who would win between [HERO] and [HERO], or [WEAPON] and [WEAPON]. But now some of those heroes (from the MCU and Star Wars universe) are actually holding this debate on their own — and we just had to weigh in.
On Twitter, where these conflicts inevitably arise, Luke Skywalker’s Mark Hamill and Captain America portrayer Chris Evans got into a friendly sparring match over their respective genre weaponry. Vibranium shield? Or a Jedi’s lightsaber? In this writer’s humble opinion, it has to be lightsaber — it’s been cutting up space metal since well, a long, long time ago.
Responding to an image of a father not knowing how to answer his son’s query asking the same thing, Hamill posted that “Luke wouldn't fight a hero, but if asked to do so, he could cut [Cap’s shield] into a million little pieces.” But Chris Evans wasn’t going to take that:
“Foolish. Now I have vibranium ninja stars,” the actor wrote, trying to convince us that lovable (but not known for his finesse) Captain America could throw a single ninja star. And what is a ninja star if not a metal energy blast? And what did Luke deflect thousands of, over the course of his lightsaber training? Case closed. Right?
