In space, no one can hear you scream. That’s especially true when you end up trapped in a giant water bubble when your spaceship’s gravity goes haywire. That’s a cold hard lesson Jennifer Lawrence learns in this first dizzying clip from director Morten Tyldum’s Passengers.

Starring the X-Men actress and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt, the hotly anticipated movie written by Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) follows two passengers on a spaceship bound for another part of the galaxy who are awakened 90 years before they’re to reach their final destination.

Lawrence plays Aurora who finds herself in a dire situation in the clip below when she decides to go for a dip in the ship’s pool. When something goes horribly wrong and the gravity goes off, Aurora finds herself trapped inside a massive gravity-defying water bubble in a stunning visual sequence. The one-minute clip boasts some amazing special effects, and I think we’re in for an epic space ride with Passengers when the movie opens on Dec. 21.

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
