Casting announcements come in all forms these days; press release, entertainment news site, PR email, and even social media. But Jessica Williams just topped the list as one of our favorite reveals with her announcement that she'll be playing an unnamed role in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film.
Something tells us Jessica's read a couple Harry Potter books here and there ...
You also can't help but love this little exchange between Williams and J.K. Rowling, who seems to be very happy about the casting and also may have dropped a hint about who Williams might be playing.
A purple heron? Rowling mentioned last year that her Patronus is a heron, so it's easy to see why she might be especially excited for this casting, but it's a hint for those of you who want to do some speculating.
Pottermore also announced the casting of Brontis Jodorowsky as Nicolas Flamel, along with several characters we have yet to meet. Spielman (Wolf Roth), Bunty (Victoria Yeates), Arnold Guzman (Cornell S John), Torquil Travers (Derek Riddell), Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech). As to those last two characters, Pottermore helpfully reminded fans that two of Voldemort's Death Eaters were named Travers and Rosier. Fiona Glascott has also been cast in an unnamed role.
The new additions will join Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo, and Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore. Both Callum Turner and Zoë Kravitz have been added to the main cast playing characters who were mentioned in the first film but are making their first live appearance here with Turner as Newt's brother Theseus and Kravitz as Leta Lestrange.
