Even though we still don’t know exactly where DC’s planed Batgirl movie fits in with the other projects Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have in the works, ignorance was no excuse for this long list of celebrities who've already lined up to throw themselves — with hilarious results — at the role.
Jodie Foster, Hilary Swank, and tons more celebs all joined Conan O’Brien to take their best shot at landing the coveted role in a hilarious “audition” reel, as part of O’Brien’s ongoing commemoration of San Diego Comic-Con week.
Two-time Oscar winner Swank sauntered onto the set with one of her golden statues in hand, dropping the mic on all competition with her stone cold swagger: “Hi; I’m Hilary Swank — and this is my audition right here.”
Elsewhere, we get Kristen Schaal rolling onto the set with a baby (“I couldn’t find a sitter”), as well as a caped and bat-masked Foster, who one-ups Swank on the hardware humble-bragging while arguing with the director over Clarice Starling appeared in a little movie called Silence of the Lambs…or Silence of the Lamps.
As for the Batgirl movie itself, we’re hoping Comic-Con will provide DC and Warner Bros. the perfect opportunity to reveal some new intel. At last check, Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) is still on board to pen the script, which might — or might not — be the same Hodson-attached project as the one the studio recently announced: Harley Quinn’s “girl gang” Birds of Prey movie.
Here's hoping we know more soon. DC's highly-anticipated SDCC panel kicks off Saturday in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center, beginning at 10:30 am PST.
