The man behind the mask has finally been revealed! True Blood and Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello will be playing Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, in Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie.

DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns has officially confirmed the awesome news in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, where he talked about his new role overseeing Warner Bros.’ comic book movies. Johns chose not to comment on whether Deathstroke has a cameo in Justice League, which is still currently filming in London.

Over a week ago, Affleck sent fans into a frenzy when he posted a tantalizing clip of Deathstroke walking ominously toward the camera, hinting that the deadly assassin would be the lead villain for his Batman movie. At the time, we had no clue as to who the man behind the mask was, but it didn’t take long before Manganiello’s name started popping up as being linked to the role.

The new Batman movie will be directed by Ben Affleck, from a script penned by Affleck and Geoff Johns. There’s currently no premiere date slated for the new movie, but don’t expect it to hit the big screen any time before 2018.

What do you guys think? Is Joe Manganiello the right man for Deathstroke?
