Marvel's grand plan to release a bunch of individual superhero movies leading up to the ensemble adventure of Joss Whedon's Avengers film apparently involves hiding easter eggs all over the place. talked to director Joe Johnston to ask him about his plans for Captain America, and he let fans know they should keep an eye out for hidden gems.

"There are links between all the Marvel films, mostly ones that only the fans will pick up on. We have several subtle references to certain elements in Thor, but since Captain America is a period picture taking place in the '40s, there are fewer opportunities for contemporary links to the rest of the Marvel universe. We can, however, create events in our story that will be paid off in Avengers and other Marvel pictures."

Marvel, of course, has a long history of planting easter eggs in its films, such as showing a prototype of Captain America's shield in Tony Stark's lab.
