The folks at DC have been cooking up a redesign for Superman, and now artist John Romita Jr. has finally put his fingerprints all over the flagship hero.

After taking over creative duties along with Geoff Johns on DC’s Superman book several months ago, which in itself brought some tweaks to the costume, Romita is making even more changes to Clark Kent’s alter ego.

We’d been teased that the upcoming Superman #38 would introduce a “new costume, new powers and new friends and enemies.” Bleeding Cool has acquired some art showing off the new-look Supes, and it's definitely a departure from what fans might expect. Plus, we've got to say — dude looks angry.

The design is, basically, a bit sleeker than usual. He has new boots, fingerless gloves (which is a little strange) and a red belt centered off with a yellow buckle. All in all, it’s not bad — and it definitely fits with the direction Romita has been taking the art as of late.
