Fans of Jonah Hex rejoice. The fan favorite DC Comics antihero is coming back for an encore when the third season of Legends of Tomorrow returns from its midseason break in 2018.

Johnathon Schaech confirmed we’ll get to see Rip Hunter’s (Arthur Darvill) gun-toting pal next year during an interview with Inverse for his new movie Day of the Dead: Bloodline

“They pinned me for the beginning of the year,” Schaech said, revealing he’ll film his episodes in January. “I don’t know what we’re gonna do or how many episodes, but definitely he’s [Jonah Hex] going to be a part of Season 3.” Schaech added that (at the time of the interview) he “hasn’t read anything” in regards to the script as of yet.

So far, we’ve seen the badly scarred Jonah Hex for one single episode each season starting with “The Magnificent Eight” in Season 1, followed by “Outlaw Country” in Season 2. Both episodes took place in the Old West so it’s safe to assume the crew of the Waverider may be going back to Hex’s home turf again to possibly fix another time aberration. But we might also see the former Confederate soldier turned bounty hunter be taken out of the Old West and dropped into a different time period.

The return of Jonah Hex is certainly a welcome one and with the Waverider down one Legend (Firestorm), so could Hex possibly join Legends of Tomorrow by the end of the season?
