Sad news, folks: Dark Shadows' original Barnabas Collins, Jonathan Frid, has passed away at the age of 87. The silver lining? It seems his final film role comes in none other than Tim Burton's upcoming Dark Shadows remake.
Frid, who passed away April 13 at a hospital in Canada, is best known for playing the main vamp on ABC's 1966-1971 soap Dark Shadows.
But just months before his death, Tim Burton brought Frid and Lara Parker (the original series' Angelique) out to film some cameos in the remake, which stars Johnny Depp as the new Barnabas.
Depp has previously stated he was a huge fan of Frid's performance in the original series, so it's nice to know the two at least got to work together.
Mr. Frid, you will be missed, but at least we will have one more role to remember you by once the new film opens on May 11.
