Get Out director-writer Jordan Peele made Oscar history today, with a bevy of nominations that make him the third person (behind Warren Beatty and James L. Brooks) to snag Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay nods for a debut film. His just happens to be a horror film.

That genre isn’t typically known for scooping up Hollywood awards, which makes Peele’s hilarious reaction all the more memorable and satisfying. The filmmaker took to Twitter to celebrate his nominations with some tongue-in-cheek posts, emphasizing his film’s scares while tipping his hat to Oscar-nominated lead actor Daniel Kaluuya’s buzzworthy performance.

His first tweet, featuring just Kaluuya’s teary, blinking face, sums it up:

After Peele regained some composure (or failed to, if the above tweet is to be believed), he asked what the opposite of Get Out’s terrifying Sunken Place is — presumably because he’s there on Cloud Nine.

Peele went on to thank moviegoers while his wife, Chelsea Peretti, even took to Twitter with a cheeky quip of her own:

With nominations in major categories, Get Out and its awards-season genre running mate, The Shape of Water, look to make quite a stand come Oscar night on March 4.
