Joseph Gordon-Levitt refuses to deny he'll be playing Robin

Among the more rampant of the many, many topics of speculation that surround Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises is the role Inception star Joseph Gordon-Levitt might play in the flick. But of all the things it could be, surely it's not Robin, right? Right?

In an interview to promote his new movie 50/50, Gordon-Levitt was (of course) asked if he could give any information on his role in the upcoming Batman flick. With all the secrecy Nolan has imposed on the production, it's not surprising that Gordon-Levitt won't say who he's playing, but then he's asked if he can at least deny rumors that he's filling one particular role.

"You are not Robin," the interviewer says. "Just tell me that."

Gordon-Levitt laughs and says: "You know I can't have this conversation."

He's pressed again to deny it and repeats the same response.

It doesn't seem like there's too much we can read into this. With reports surfacing that Nolan won't even show the ending of the script to most of the cast, it's not surprising that cast members whose roles aren't already confirmed would be forbidden from giving out information.

Still, it's not a denial, and now we have a clip to analyze for body language and nonverbal cues (if you're into that kind of thing). What do you think? Does Robin even have a place in the dark world Nolan has created here, or would Gordon-Levitt have given the same noncommittal answer to any rumor question in that interview?
