We all have our favorite stars we keep up with, but one fan of a former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star took fandom to new and creepy levels—prompting a judge to make a pretty bizarre ruling to resolve the matter.

Alyson Hannigan recently had to go to court to resolve a semi-stalker situation, with New Hampshire resident John Hobbs, 43, taken to task after allegedly posting several threatening messages about Hannigan and her family online.

A Los Angeles judge has ruled that Hobbs is barred from posting anything about Hannigan online for three years, and he reportedly agreed to abide by the ruling. The thought process being that if you can't post, you can't threaten.

Though her role as the witch Willow Rosenberg in Buffy made her a geek icon, Hannigan has found mainstream fame with her comedic roles in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, as well as the long-running American Pie film franchise. Hobbs reportedly told police he was upset because he wanted to meet the star.

Here’s hoping that this one is over and the actress can get back to focusing on her husband (fellow former Buffy co-star Alexis Denisof) and two children.
