Today, July 12th, This Day in Twilight Zone History and The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia remember actor Jeff Morris, who passed away on this day in 2004 at 69.

Morris played Southern-born Army radio operator Finnegan, who's tasked with tracking down a missing National Guard tank crew that was last reported near the Little Big Horn, in "The 7th is Made Up of Phantoms."

Radio operator Finnegan (Jeff Morris, center) reports that the tank has been found, but there's no sign of the crew in "The 7th Is Made Up of Phantoms."

Morris (1934-2004), a native of St. Joseph, Missouri, was especially good at playing good ol' boy types. He made his feature debut as Marvin in American International Pictures' The Bonnie Parker Story (1958), which starred Dorothy Provine as the Depression-era desperado. His feature credits include 36 Hours (1964, as a German soldier, posing as a post-war U.S. disc jockey) and Kelly’s Heroes (1970, as Cowboy, one of fellow Twilight Zone player Telly Savalas' platoon members).

So, on this the day of his passing, let's hoist a jug of moonshine to Morris, the missing General Stuart tank and crew, the battle they fought in another time, and the show we watch all the time: The Twilight Zone.
