Today, July 31st, This Day in Twilight Zone History and The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia remember actress Mary Munday, who was born on this day in 1926.
Munday (1926-1997), a Glendale, California native, portrayed Hildy Powell, the sister of a vivacious Hollywood actress (Maggie McNamara) in "Ring-a-Ding Girl." It is Hildy who gifts her sister with a ring that magically exhorts her to come home immediately.
Munday made her television debut in the "Project 44" episode of Science Fiction Theatre (1956), which was helmed by her director husband Tom Gries. She had previously made her feature debut as a bit player in the costume epic The Golden Horde (1951).
As this is my last post of This Day in Twilight Zone History (having completed a full year), I would like to do a huge shout-out to the fans who have supported this fun-to-write blog. Every morning, I would see your 'likes' and say to myself, "Thank you." Well, now I can just shout out my thanks and encourage you to pick up my book, if you don't already have it: The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia. This blog, I hope, gave you a taste of the world of TZ; the encyclopedia provides you with a four-course meal and beverage.
See you in the Zone.
