Today, June 27th, This Day in Twilight Zone History and The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia celebrate the births of two TZ performers: Gary Crosby, born on this day in 1933, and John McIntire, born in 1907.

Crosby starred in Season 5 episode "Come Wander With Me," playing rockabilly performer Floyd Burney, who while searching for backwoods song material happens upon a captivating, soulful singer named Mary Rachel, warbling an equally captivating tune. If he had any sense, Floyd would head for the hills, but he's entered The Twilight Zone.

Crosby (1933-1995), of course, was the son of crooner Bing Crosby, and being a singer himself, Floyd Burney was right in his wheelhouse.

John McIntire co-starred in "The Chaser" as Professor A. Daemon, an odd purveyor of potions who attempts to help out love-starved Roger Shackleforth (George Grizzard), a man obsessed with lovely Leila (Patricia Barry). In real life, McIntire (1907-1991) was married to fellow TZ veteran Jeanette Nolan, so memorable as Granny Hart in "Jess-Belle."

So let's raise a potion and some moonshine to Daemon and Burney, two men heading in opposite directions on the twisted highway of The Twilight Zone.
