With a few seasons of American Horror Story under its belt, FX has proven it's not afraid to bring the freaky and bring it hard. If you need more proof, check out this new post for Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain.

The upcoming sci-fi vampire series is based on the filmmaker’s novels of the same name, and kick off with a mysterious flight that lands, well, dead. From there, things get crazy, and it digs into a deep vampire story that puts a fairly nice twist on the genre.

To set up just how unsettling the series will be, the network has released a poster showing a super-freaky eye creature crawling into someone’s eye. It also serves as a nice tease, with the sci-fi freakiness balanced with the medical-gloved hand. There’s just something about eyes that freaks me out, and this poster nails it.

Along with Del Toro, the series will also be executive-produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel). So, definitely a pretty impressive bit of talent putting this one together. The 13-episode debut season is set to premiere in July.

While we wait, check out a new teaser trailer for the series below:
