You don't know the power of the "Darkseid." No, we're not talking about Star Wars — we're talking about the very first teaser trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League. After several years of wondering and petitioning, fans finally got an extended look at the fabled cut of the 2017 team-up movie during today's DC FanDome event.
As you'd expect, the teaser is packed with plenty of content that flat-out didn't exist in the film's theatrical version, including: a redesigned Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), Superman (Henry Cavill) in his black suit, Silas Stone (Joe Morton) being disintegrated by a Mother Box, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) saving Iris West (Kiersey Clemons), and, of course, the dreaded warlord of Apokolips known as Darkseid (Ray Porter). He's only the Jack Kirby-created villain who inspired Marvel's Thanos.
Interestingly, the trailer is almost entirely silent, presenting a parade of scenes set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Snyder previously used the track in his 2009 film adaptation of Watchmen.
Watch the teaser now:
"It's been quite a journey with the DC fans and I've had a great time bringing some of these beloved DC titles to the big screen," Snyder said at the start of the movie's FanDome panel. "The Justice League really is, for me, in this format, an amazing crown jewel. As a community, you were able to make this thing happen and we really appreciate it."
Zack Snyder's Justice League arrives on HBO Max sometime in 2021. It's set to be broken up into four one-hour installments.
