As we reported a few days ago, Samantha Tumpach, a 22-year-old Chicago woman, was facing a possible three years in jail for having been caught in a movie theater with three minutes of The Twilight Saga: New Moon on her digital recording device. Well, it looks like the courts have a soft spot for fans of sparkly vampire boys and wolfy boys with killers abs. Charges against Tumpach have been dropped, according the Hollywood Reporter.

The case, in which it wasn't the studio pressing charges, but the theater chain in which Tumpach was arrested, got some wide notice when New Moon director Chris Weitz stepped up to defend Tumpach.

Tumpach had spent two days in jail while awaiting a bond hearing.

So, fans of court dramas and legal thrillers ... if you were a John Grisham wannabe, how would you have plotted Tumpach's defense for maximum drama?
