Following James Gunn’s departure from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this past summer, its status has been up in the air. When will it come out? WILL it come out? Who is returning? So many questions, very few answers. Thanks to Karen Gillan, we finally have SOMETHING.
Gillen, who plays Nebula, arguably one of the most complex characters in all the MCU, is currently promoting her directorial debut The Party’s Just Beginning. In an interview with People, she was able to give some insight as to both the status of Guardians and the state of Nebula as she prepares to enter the Endgame next April.
In regards to Guardians, she wasn’t able to give many details but did confirm that there’s a script. “Our director won’t be with us any longer, but we are excited to continue the Guardians of the Galaxy story and keep delivering to the fans. She added, “That’s the most important thing. I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians film will come out], but there’s a script in existence.”
Whether or not it’s Gunn’s original script or at least parts of it, is still in question, but it’s good to know there is something ready to go for the crew of the Milano.
As it pertains to Nebula in Avengers: Endgame, Gillan teases she’ll be as conflicted as ever. “Thanos is her dad, and she is definitely going to have to confront some daddy issues. That’s for sure.”
Let’s hope this means that she will finally be able to stand up to her father. The last thing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes need is another thorn in their side when trying to restore the half of the universe Thanos took.
