With Patrick Stewart set to reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard in a brand new Star Trek series for CBS All Access, who’s to say we might not see the return of other Starfleet captains to the franchise soon? If the opportunity arises, one captain ready to step back onto the bridge is Kate Mulgrew as Kathryn Janeway.
Mulgrew appeared at Destination Star Trek Birmingham Saturday where she spoke about her time as Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager. The event was live-tweeted by the official Star Trek twitter account which shared her comment that she’d be up for “putting her space suit back on” for a movie with her, William Shatner (James T. Kirk) and Stewart. Whether it’s a movie or maybe an episode of the new Picard TV show, we can only imagine the epic journey these three captains would boldly join forces for but sign us up, Captain!
In addition to giving us this idea we’re now hoping can be in our future, Mulgrew also reflected on Voyager. She spoke about how Janeway “broke the mold” and how that time in Hollywood “was very much a boys club.” Mulgrew also confirmed that like her Star Trek counterpart, she loves coffee.
Until we get to see the return of Janeway, at least Star Trek fans can look forward to the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery’s second season on January 17, 2019.
