Keanu Reeves set for a Bill & Ted sequel 20 years in the making

The last time we saw Alex Winter's Bill S. Preston, Esq., and Keanu Reeves' Ted "Theodore" Logan was in 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Now it seems that Reeves isn't just game to return to that time-traveling, rock-and-rolling world—a script is on the way.

Some sequels make you giddy with anticipation, others make you puke in your mouth a little. And then there's the "huh ... well, I'll give that one a go" sequel. Another chapter in the slacker-savior saga that began with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure falls in that third category. While no one has been, exactly, chomping at the bit for a Bill & Ted 3, it's a world that Reeves seems willing to return to:

"When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. ... So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."

Who knows if the world even wants another Bill & Ted—those characters seem very much like relics of a mall culture that just doesn't exist anymore—but if Tron: Legacy proved anything, it's that nostalgia is a powerful thing.
